We have a wide range of diagnostic services available at both hospitals:
In house blood testing
Both hospitals have laboratory equipment which enables us to process a blood sample from your pet as soon as the sample has been collected; this is particularly useful with the critically ill patient, or those middle of the night emergencies. We are also able to run blood screens prior to surgeries to be certain that your pet is fit enough to undergo the general anaesthesia or as part of a wellness program. The clinical benefits of immediate results are immeasurable, forming the foundations on which we can build our treatment plan for your pet.
> To pick up early signs of disease or illness, often before clinical signs are observed.
> We recommend all of our senior* patients receive a comprehensive blood test.
Pre-anaesthetic panel (Basic panel includes kidney, liver, blood glucose assessment)
Comprehensive panel (More thorough panel including kidney, liver, blood glucose, pancreas and electrolytes assessment).
CBC panel (Sent to lab to analyse red and white blood cell counts).
The evaluation of a urine sample is a quick and cost effective indicator of illness, and forms an important part of a clinical investigation. We are able to examine the urine for presence of blood, red or white blood cells, crystals (in some cases an indicator of the presence of bladder stones) and bacteria. The levels of glucose present, and the ability of the animal to produce concentrated urine also develop a clearer clinical picture.

USG (Measures concentrating ability of the kidneys).
Dipstick (Checks to see if the urine contains components such as blood/protein/glucose that indicate disease)
Cytology (Assess whether there are crystals, white blood cells, or bacteria present)
Culture and sensitivity (Samples sent to lab to check for infection and appropriate antibiotics required).
Complete set up to assess patient, radiographs are processed on site to give quick turn around of results.
Cytology and Microscopy
Skin and ear conditions can be very stubborn, we are able to take and examine swabs from infected ears or skin to improve the precise targeting of treatment – for example if the primary problem is a yeast or a bacteria.
Lumps removed during surgery can be sent to the lab to give a diagnosis, a tumour grade with likelihood of recurring.
